Medical Acupuncture acts mainly by stimulating the central nervous system. This, in turn, releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These biochemical changes may stimulate the body&#8217;s natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.<\/p>\n<p>Acupuncture treatment is generally painless. During acupuncture treatment, the patient may feel a gentle prick (like a mosquito bite) followed by a warmth and heaviness in the muscle that is being treated. This is a result of increased blood flow to that area of the body, bringing fresh oxygen and nutrients to aid in healing and repair.
